The God of New Beginnings

Happy New Year!  It’s always great to enter a new year and put the old year behind you.  For some, the past year may have been filled with disappointments, hurts, regrets, and failures.  It’s good to know that God is a God of new beginnings!  The apostle Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away and new things have come.”  God offers us grace (unconditional love) to meet the needs in our lives.  Grace brings us forgiveness, cleansing, renewal, and new beginnings.  God values each one of us and wants the best for our lives.  No matter what we have gone through or experienced in the past, God can make all things new!  He can take broken lives and heal them.  He can take aimless lives and give them purpose.  He can take ruined lives and remake them for His glory.

Let’s each look forward to the new opportunities and challenges that will come our way in 2008.  I believe 2008 can be our best year ever!  God may have surprises for your life and bring amazing things to you as you trust Him completely.  We must all remember that “nothing is impossible with God.”  Believe that He can make a difference in your life.  Believe that He can turn things around.  Believe that He is working for your good.  Believe that He can help you become the person that He wants you to be.

Let us also affirm the power of the cross of Jesus Christ!  It’s by Christ’s sacrificial death on calvary that we have forgiveness of sins, and can experience the grace of God in our lives.  It’s because of the cross that I can experience a new life and live in God’s will every day.  As we go through each day in this new year, let’s wholeheartedly embrace the cross of Jesus Christ and live in it’s power.
