What do we mean by “Ethos” you ask? Ethos is defined as this…”The disposition, character, or fundamental values peculiar to a specific person, people, culture, or movement.” Here at The Journey these are our core values, this is what describes us:
LOVE | Small things done with great love can change the world.
AUTHENTICITY | The Church should be a real place for real people.
CULTURAL RELEVANCE | The Bible is God’s eternal truth and should be
communicated in a way that makes sense.
FUN | Jesus made it possible for us to radically enjoy a relationship with
Him and to enjoy His creation.
BUILDING COMMUNITY | Taking next steps with God takes place best in the context of authentic, loving relationships. People matter to God and they should matter to us.
EXCELLENCE | Not unrealistic perfection, but bringing you’re “A-game” to all areas of life honors God and inspires others.
REPRODUCTION | The Church is a movement, not an institution. Mission is why the Church exists and every Christ-follower is created to do great things for God. We encourage Christ-followers to reproduce Christ-followers, leaders to reproduce leaders and churches to reproduce churches.
NEXT STEPS | Taking next steps towards being like Christ in each area of life is normal for every Christ-follower.
CREATIVITY | Creativity and innovation are the natural results of taking next steps with the ultimate creator. Artistic expression should be encouraged and not ignored. The church should be transforming, not conforming.
SIMPLICITY| yep, simple.
